Bulgaria’s Vice President Iliana Iotova attended a conference named "Bulgaria in the eurozone". Iliana Iotova called for an awareness-raising campaign to answer people's questions and address their concerns about the effects of the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria. In her words, the lack of information gives rise to scepticism and conspiracy theories. This is the reason why 56% of Bulgarians have very serious doubts about the euro, Vice President Iotova said referring to a poll conducted by Gallup International.

Meanwhile, a protest organized by Vazrazhdane party took place. Kostadin Kostadinov and other MPs from Vazrazhdane were allowed to join the conference and take part at the discussions. In Kostadin Kostadinov’s words, “protesters are demanding a referendum, because the vast majority of Bulgarians are against the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria”.

Members of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB), who also attended the conference, raised placards demanding higher incomes after the introduction of the single currency in Bulgaria.
