In a resolution, European liberals call for the simultaneous accession of Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia to Schengen. The document, voted at the ALDE Council in Bratislava, notes that the three countries fulfil the necessary criteria for joining the Schengen area.

MEP Ilhan Kyuchyuk, President of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, said that the double standard leads to a sense of injustice among citizens. "The decision of the government of the Netherlands not to support our country is not fair", said MEP Ilhan Kyuchyuk.
