2,072 people have died on Bulgaria's roads since 2019, it was announced at a forum in Sofia organized by the non-governmental organization Institute for Road Safety. "

"More Bulgarians are dying on the roads than in a military conflict. I know we have to stop this war," said Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev.

Traffic experts have called for higher fines and tougher penalties for drink and drug drivers.
No cabinet ministers appeared at the forum.

According to the chairman of the Institute, Bogdan Milchev, the executive power was ordered not to attend because of the participation of the chief prosecutor Ivan Geshev.

Milchev called to stop the war between the institutions and start a war against the perpetrators of serious road accidents.
