The caretaker cabinet will submit a draft budget for 2023, if the MPs reach a preliminary consensus on a baseline budget, President Rumen Radev said at a meeting with the President of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) Plamen Dimitrov and the President of the Confederation of Labor "Podkrepa" Dimitar Manolov.
"I am convinced that the government is committed enough to increasing incomes, social benefits and pensions'', said Rumen Radev and added that he fully shares the trade unions' concern about the high inflation and people's incomes.
The National Assembly can order the government to draft a budget for 2023, said Assen Vassilev, co-chairperson of "We Continue the Change". "The extension of the 2022 budget freezes all salaries, pensions, social payments and subsidies for businesses", Assen Vassilev noted.
Bulgaria’s two largest trade unions took to the streets today to demand higher incomes.
