Household electricity consumers to remain on the regulated market for another 3 years

Photo: Archive

The majority in the Bulgarian Parliament voted that household electricity consumers should remain on the regulated electricity market until December 31, 2025. This practically postpones their transition to the free energy market by 3 years. The proposal submitted by GERB was approved after heated discussions.

The MPs also lowered the ceiling on compensation for electricity for businesses from BGN 250 /€127/ to BGN 200 /€102/ per megawatt hour until the end of 2023. The difference to the market price will be covered by the excess profits of all state and private electricity producers.
