An increase in the salaries of emergency medics has been budgeted for in 2023 that will meet their demands, Deputy Health Minister in the caretaker cabinet Alexander Zlatanov stated, in a comment on the weekly symbolic protest by staff at emergency medical centres throughout the country.

As of today until 13 November, the siren and emergency lighting will be switched on on every ambulance on the territory of Bulgaria for three minutes at noon, as a sign of protest over salaries in the sector which have not been updated for 10 years. Emergency medical staff are also demanding that their job category be equated to that of police and firefighters.
