A musical celebration is coming up on October 27 in the hall of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Berlin. It will be the second night of the presentation of Bulgaria’s Vasil Spassov Trio in the German capital. The concert programme is composed entirely of original pieces by the leader of the formation – Vasil Spassov, a celebrated Bulgarian jazz pianist and composer, with numerous participations in prestigious festivals and concerts in the USA, France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, Germany, Kuwait, China, etc.

"We received the invitation for the concert a long time ago, and therefore we are very happy that we will finally be able to make it happen," Vasil Spassov told Radio Bulgaria.

From him we also learned more details about the performances in Berlin: ‎

“We have two appearances there, the first (on 26 Oct) is in the b-flat club, which is very famous. We will open the jam session with an author's program, which will also include pieces by our famous drummer Prof. Hristo Yotsov - one of the most popular names in this genre in Bulgaria. We will be playing together with the saxophonist Vladimir Karparov, who has been living in Berlin for years and is active there. We have known him for a long time and have played in various projects.

The bass player in the band is Mihail Ivanov, who I can say is among the most loved young performers in Bulgaria. The next evening on October 27 is our concert at the Bulgarian Cultural Institute. For several plays, the trio will be joined by Vladimir Karparov, as a surprise for the audience. Right after that, on October 28, our fans in Bulgaria will have the opportunity to hear the same program at our concert in a Sofia club.”

"I am very glad that Radio Bulgaria is covering the concerts. I am even more glad that I will have the opportunity to play with these wonderful musicians and friends. In b-flat we will play with Vasko, Hristo and Robin Draganic - a Croatian musician from Canada who has been living in Berlin for decades," Vladimir Karparov told us emotionally.‎

The musicians are also preparing for another visit abroad:‎

‎‎"About two weeks later we will be in Paris, this time with the drummer Atanas Popov, with whom we are most often on stage”, says Vasil Spassov. “We will be playing at the Korean Cultural Institute in the French capital – a nice hall with great opportunities for making music. We will be very happy to meet the audience in both Berlin and Paris. Part of it will be representatives of the Bulgarian communities there and they will surely be happy to hear something coming from Bulgaria. These meetings are always very exciting for us.”
