"The European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) stipulates that each country synchronizes its mechanisms for protecting these rights", Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev said at a conference in Sofia dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Bulgaria's accession to ECHR. "Expanding access to constitutional justice will strengthen the protection of human rights", Rumen Radev added.

"The expression “civilizational choice” is quite common in Bulgaria. Bulgaria has made its civilizational choice over the past 30 years with its membership in the Council of Europe and the adoption of the European Convention on Human Rights", caretaker Minister of Justice Krum Zarkov said during the forum.
