Bulgarian language researchers from ten European universities have created a literary atlas, "Picturesque Bulgaria. Multilingual routes". In addition to distinguished scholars from Athens, Warsaw, Venice, Vienna, Ljubljana, Plovdiv, St. Petersburg, Sofia, Strasbourg and Heidelberg, the international team includes undergraduate and postgraduate students studying Bulgarian language and culture.

Fourteen separate literary trips have been organized in the nine working languages of the teams. The Atlas informs about each of them, indicating the map of that journey and offering a comprehensive reading of selected literary essays. A wide chronological range of texts is included - from the Middle Ages, such as "A eulogy for Patriarch Evtimiy", to "Tales from Transko" by Petar Delchev; from the lyrics by poet Revival Petko Slaveykov, through classics such as Peyo Yavorov and Yordan Yovkov, to the work of contemporary authors like Ivan Tsanev, Ekaterina Yosifova, Ivan Teofilov, Rumen Leonidov, writer Georgi Gospodinov, and others.

Each route is translated into Bulgarian, following the principle of bilingual editions, and the texts provided by the Bulgarian teams are translated into English. The edition will be presented on 21 October at 7 pm at the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Berlin.
