“Expanding connectivity in various spheres between Bulgaria and Romania, including by building a third bridge, and the joint efforts to maintain navigation along the River Danube are important for the economic exchange of the entire region,” President Rumen Radev said during a working meeting with the Prime Minister of Romania Nicolae Ciuca in Sofia ahead of the official ceremony for the launch of the Greece-Bulgaria gas interconnector.

In the words of the Bulgarian President, bilateral trade reached EUR 6.5 billion in 2021, but it definitely does not exhaust the potential of economic partnership between Bulgaria and Romania. President Radev and PM Ciuca agreed that the accession of Bulgaria and Romania to the Schengen area is a step towards the consolidation of regional security and stability.
