"Maintaining stability in the countries of the Western Balkans, together with the promotion of their European perspective and Euro-Atlantic orientation, are a priority for Bulgaria. Our country supports the efforts of the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina to continue the implementation of reforms on the way to the EU and in the context of the Euro-Atlantic integration".

This is what Bulgaria's Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov said after a meeting with his Bosnian counterpart Sifet Podzic in Sarajevo. He pointed out that Bulgaria is ready to continue its participation in the EU operation Althea which is key to the security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and if necessary to take command of it.

Bulgaria is participating in the operation with 118 servicemen and is ready to increase their number.
