Bulgaria has expressed its intention to welcome 100-150 migrants from those currently residing in Cyprus, Cypriot Interior Minister Nicos Nouris announced. The Mediterranean country holds the unwanted first place in the EU in terms of the percentage of political asylum seekers, which has reached 6% of the total population, BNR correspondent in Cyprus Branislava Bobanats reported.

The relocation of migrants from Cyprus to Bulgaria is within the framework of the mechanism proposed by the European Commission for the voluntary solidarity of the member states with the countries on the front line of the migration flow.
