Another 5.1 million euros allocated for addressing the flood damage in Karlovo region

The state will provide more than €5.1 million in additional funds to the three flood-hit municipalities in the Karlovo region (Karlovo, Kaloyanovo and Maritsa) to deal with flood damage, Deputy Prime Minister Ivan Demerdjiev said after the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for Recovery and Relief. 

Following heavy rains earlier this month, more than 200 houses were flooded, bridges and other infrastructure destroyed. The fund set aside for natural disasters is 40 million euros, but only 17.3 million euros are still available, said Demerdjiev, calling for more prevention. An inspection of more than 80 logging sites could not find any illegal logging
