101 Kaba Bagpipes and the Olympic Champions of Bulgaria will open the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Sofia

To the sounds of 101 Kaba Bagpipes and the performance of the Olympic ensemble of Bulgaria will be the opening of the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships, which will be held from 14 to 18 September in the capital's Arena Armeec Hall, the president of the federation Iliana Raeva told BNT.


The mascot of the competition will be popular character in Bulgarian folk stories and anecdotes Cunning Peter. "The competition will be under the auspices of Bulgarian embroidery and all branding in the hall will be decorated with embroidery motifs," said Iliana Raeva.


She said an "impressive" number of gymnasts had entered - 85 in the individual competition and 30 ensembles from 62 countries. "The geography of rhythmic gymnastics is expanding a lot," the federation president added, recalling that at the last world championships athletes from 58 countries had participated. 


Bulgaria will be represented by Boryana Kalein, Styliana Nikolova and the rhythmic gymnastics ensemble.
