Welcome to “Bulgaria Today” on Tuesday, September 6.

On September 6, Bulgaria marks 137 years since the Unification of the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia, an important moment in Bulgarian history that changed the course of development of the country.

On our podcast today, we have a special programme dedicated to September 6, with a focus on history and Bulgarian music in the spirit of the day. 

First, we bring you some details about the prehistory of this memorable for Bulgaria event.

Also, we tell you about the great act of unity of the revolutionary committees, the Bulgarian government, Knyaz Alexander Battenberg, the political parties, and the people that led to the Unification of the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia.

 At the end of the programme, In Radio Bulgaria’s Song of the Day we offer you an emblematic Bulgarian song- “Hubava si, tatkovino/ How beautiful you are, my fatherland” to the rendition of the Mixed Choir and the Symphony Orchestra of the Bulgarian National Radio.
