According to the snapshot calculations by Bulgargaz, the price of natural gas must go up by 17% in September, Bulgargaz’s new executive director Denitsa Zlateva stated. She pointed to the price-formation mix: “We have the negotiated amounts of Azeri deliveries; two partial LNG cargoes; the quantity traded at the Balkan gas hub auction at a highly competitive price from the supplier who won the tender.”

Denitsa Zlateva stated further that the caretaker cabinet sends letters to Gazprom every day, and that the talks with the Russian company are taking place at a political not at a company level.

However, the chairman of the energy watchdog Ivan Ivanov stated that negotiations with Gazprom will not yield the desired result. He did not rule out new central heating prices as of the beginning of 2023.
