Gas quantities are secured until the end of September, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policies Hristo Alexiev, head of the Energy Crisis Taskforce, said at a briefing. The staff, appointed by the interim government, has focused its efforts on the completion and launch of the IGB interconnector, as well as on the financial stabilisation of state-owned gas Company Bulgargaz.

"Many problems have been left unattended", Hristo Alexiev stressed. In his words, the previos government has not properly overseen the construction and documentation problems of the IGB interconnector. "We can say that chaos reigned and the project management did nothing to remedy the shortcomings," added the deputy prime minister, adding that gas must be found at prices that are bearable for both companies and individuals. According to Hristo Alexiev, at the moment it is impossible to grant compensations because there is no functioning parliament.
