Sofia's Regional Health Inspectorate and the Water and Sewerage Company are expected to announce today whether the water in Svoge is safe for drinking, the town's deputy mayor Iliya Bogdanov said.

A few days ago, because of the drying up of the Iskretska river, Svoge and nearby villages were left without water supply. If analysis of the water content shows that it is undrinkable, the government will continue to distribute bottled water to the people at organised points. 34,160 kg of dead fish from the dried up fishponds, were taken last night to the incineration plant in Ihtiman. The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency has given instructions for the disinfection of the ponds.
