Inflation has outpaced wage growth in almost all sectors of the Bulgarian economy and consumer prices have risen by 10% year-on-year. These are part of the conclusions in an analysis by the Institute for Market Economy.
Average wage growth in May and June on an annual basis was slower than consumer price growth. The rise in prices exceeded that of the average gross wage by 4% in May and by 3.2% in June, while in the cold months we are expected to see even higher prices for food, fuel and household bills. Only trade and administrative activities show faster wage growth compared to inflation. Large differences in remuneration between individual economic sectors also remain a problem.
