Number of foreign tourists visiting Bulgaria has increased with 130% since the beginning of 2022

Nearly 2, 207,000 foreign tourists visited Bulgaria in the first half of 2022, or 130% more compared to the same period of 2021, Bulgaria’s caretaker Deputy Minister of Tourism Irena Georgieva announced at a press conference at Sofia Airport. In Irena Georgieva's words, the Ministry of Tourism will reinforce cooperation with Sofia Airport and the airline industry in terms of joint development of new destinations, presentation of tourist products on the territory of Sofia Airport, joint participation in tourist events, promoting Bulgaria as a year-round tourist destination in the airlines’ communication channels, etc.

Sofia Airport is among the airports with the lowest charges in Europe and the region, which is of great importance, Deputy Minister Georgieva said.
