The Palace Cultural Center in Balchik presents items of the Chiprovtsi Goldsmith School

Photo: National Museum of History

From August 1 until September 13, the The Palace Cultural Center in the coastal town of Balchik presents some of the most beautiful items made by the Chiprovtsi Goldsmith School (the middle of 16th- the beginning of 18th century). The works are kept at the National Museum of History and are part of the exhibition "Items of Luxury. The Chiprovtsi Goldsmith School".

Most exhibits are random finds from Northwestern Bulgaria, which were hoarded by Bulgarians fleeing the region after the Chiprovtsi Uprising of 1688. Visitors can see various richly decorated bracelets, forehead ornaments, etc. A copy of a gold treasure from Nessebar, dated to the second half of the 16th and the beginning of the 17th century, is also on display in the complex.
