Pace of spread of Covid-19 in Sofia slows down

479 is the number of new Covid-19 cases out of 1,903 tests performed in the country in the past day, a positivity rate of 25.2%, down from 27.7% the previous day, Single Coronavirus Information Portal data show.

The number of active cases in the country is up by 96 to 24,181 in the past 24 hours. The number of patients being treated in hospital is up by 8 to 977, of them 56 in intensive care.

Three people with established coronavirus have died in the past day, 380 are reported as recovered. 79 doses of vaccine have been administered on Sunday.

The pace of spread of the infection in Sofia has been slowing down in the past week and has plateaued, Sofia municipality health consultant Prof. Todor Kantardzhiev said for Nova TV. No drastic anti-epidemic measures are to be expected in Sofia. In Varna, which is in stage 2 of the pandemic as well, mask-wearing in enclosed public spaces is mandatory as of 1 August.
