The 59th edition of the traditional summer Bulgarian language and culture seminar, organized by the St. Kliment Ohridski University in Sofia with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science,is over. More than 70 participants from Europe and Asia took part in the event dedicated to Bulgarian language, culture and traditions.
The first edition of the seminar took place in 1963, targeted mostly at foreign students, researchers, lecturers and translators working with the Bulgarian language and culture professionally, but also at business people and scholars in the humanities, for whom speaking the language and knowing the history and culture of the country was necessary in their line of work.
On the sidelines of the event there was a diverse cultural programme for the participants, with Bulgarian films and visits to the National Museum of History, to Mount Vitosha, tours of Sofia, trips to Plovdiv and Rila Monastery.
The three-week forum ended with a folklore night, when the participants themselves performed the Bulgarian folk dances they had learnt, and also traditional dances from their own countries.
