A new case of monkeypox has been confirmed in Bulgaria, the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases reported. The 23-year-old patient has recently returned from Italy. He was admitted to a hospital in Plovdiv with fever and a rash, but in good general condition.

The first cases of monkeypox in this country were detected at the end of June when two men were infected after a trip to Spain and Great Britain. The third infected person, registered a few days later, was in contact with one of them.
