Serbian Mladen Krstajić is to be the new coach of the Bulgarian national football team for the next two years. This decision by the Bulgarian Football Union’s executive committee was announced by the Union’s President Borislav Mihailov.
He is replacing Yasen Petrov who resigned after the team suffered a resounding 2-5 loss from Georgia in Razgrad at the beginning of June. In his coaching career the former player from the national squads of Yugoslavia, Serbia and Montenegro has coached the national team of Serbia, as well as Bačka Topola and Maccabi, Tel Aviv.
“Mladen Krstajić’s goal now is to qualify for the 2024 European championship even though it is abundantly clear how difficult that will be,” Borislav Mihailov said.
