Bulgaria has received an offer from Lockheed Martin for the delivery of eight more F-16 fighter aircraft , outgoing Minister of Defense Dragomir Zakov said. According to Minister Zakov, the offer is comparable to the first one, but includes a much larger package of capabilities. Moreover, Bulgaria can pay in installments.

"This is a contract proposal that has to be submitted to the National Assembly", said Dragomir Zakov. In his words, the contract includes some tight deadlines. Bulgaria must respond to the offer until the beginning of November. However, if there is no functioning National Assembly, Bulgaria may request a deadline extension.
