The coalition GERB-SDS is prepared to take part in the consultations for seeking a way out of the crises, but this does not mean that they have changed their mind – that it is impossible to have a stable majority in the current parliament. This was made clear by GERB parliamentary group chairperson Desislava Atanasova after the party held consultations with President Rumen Radev.
“Our parliamentary group clearly expressed its opinion that it cannot see any formula that could bring about a stable majority and a government. But the fact that we are here, and knowing that the country is undergoing a series of crises, we are assuming the responsibility to seek ways for coping with these crises,” Desislava Atanasova said.
President Rumen Radev stated that people are expecting to see a solution to their problems and added: “You, with your extensive experience in parliament and in government know well what it means to have elections at critical times such as these, to have no parliament, to have periods of transition in which the administration cannot function effectively.”
