Russia has not yet decided how exactly it will respond to the expulsion of the 70 diplomats and employees of the Russian diplomatic missions in Bulgaria. This was stated for BNR by the Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Press of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Alexey Zaitsev.

When asked when Russia will announce retaliatory measures and whether they include closing the Russian embassy in Sofia, Zaitsev said: "I cannot give you more details now. The retaliatory measures are being discussed."

Meanwhile, the resigned foreign minister Teodora Genchovska reconfirmed to journalists that a report from the National Security Agency on the expulsion of the Russian diplomats was not received by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, only lists of the names of diplomats and embassy employees were received.
