World-renowned Belgian scientist will join the team of Bulgaria's AI institute INSAIT

Prof. Luc Van Gool, a world-renowned researcher and one of the most cited scientists in the field of machine learning and computer vision, will join the team of the Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technologies (INSAIT) based in Sofia

His role will allow INSAIT, the first institute of its kind in Eastern Europe, which is part of Sofia University, to develop as a world research centre in one of the most strategic scientific and technological spheres - artificial intelligence, INSAIT announced.

The arrival in Bulgaria of the Belgian professor is thanks to the financial support of a leading Bulgarian IT company which provides 2 million euros for the scientist's salary over the next 5 years.
