The two Russian planes which landed at Sofia Airport to take the expelled Russian diplomatic staff took off for Moscow at 15.00pm  and 15.30pm. Nearly 170 people boarded the planes.

Most of them refused to speak or made brief comments. "We are leaving because of your government. No comment," one of the expelled Russian nationals told the media.

Minister Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in Sofia Philip Voskresensky was among the expelled Russian citizens. In his words, “none of the illegally expelled Russians worked against Bulgaria". "They worked for the development of bilateral relations”, said Voskresensky.
There was an enhanced police presence at Sofia Airport.
