Writer Zrdavka Evtimova receives prestigious Romanian award

Zdravka Evtimova is holder of the Mihai Eminescu international academy award for prose for 2022, the Bulgarian PEN centre has announced.

The award goes to the Bulgarian author for her creative use of language in prose and the powerful expressivity of aesthetic themes and ideas, as well as for her contribution to the development of culture at a national and world level. The award was bestowed by the chairman of the Mihai Eminescu International Academy, Academician Ion Diakonescu.

“We are upholding the freedom of speech, spreading Bulgarian literature around the world, because with its poetry, Bulgaria can reach out to the hearts of all people,” Zdravka Evtimova said at the award ceremony.
