At the beginning of today's government session, Prime Minister Kiril Petkov said he wanted any proposals for lifting the veto on EU Membership talks with North Macedonia to be discussed by parliament.

"Proposals by the French Presidency of the EU, by a Member State or the European Commission for approval of the start of membership talks with North Macedonia and Albania in the EU, which deviate from the 2019 framework position, shall be forwarded immediately to the Foreign Policy Committee of the National Assembly," PM Petkov said. "Bulgaria's representatives in the Committee of Permanent Representatives and those in the General Affairs Council should not express agreement without parliament’s approval," the Prime Minister added.
