Survey: 77% of Bulgarians do not believe the country is governed according to the will of the people

Reflecting on the recent turbulent period of political instability, 17% of Bulgarians agree with the statement "My country is governed according to the will of the people" and 77% answer negatively. This shows the data for Bulgaria in a global survey by Gallup International


According to 22% of respondents, the elections in the country are free and fair, 65% are of the opposite opinion. 13% of Bulgarians believe that they are living in a strong democracy, for 12% the country does not meet one of the conditions for democracy, and two thirds find the level of democracy in Bulgaria weak.


Around the world, people in Ghana (85%) are most satisfied with the freedom and fairness of elections in their country, while people in Vietnam (84%) are most satisfied with the democratic nature of their country's government. The survey was conducted between October and December 2021.
