Integration of refugees from Ukraine is needed, ombudsman says

Accommodating Ukrainian refugees in resorts is a short-term solution. According to the ombudsman Diana Kovacheva, sate-owned recreation centers and hotels are often in remote places and this hinders the integration of refugees. Speaking to BNT, Kovacheva pointed out the need to find a clearer approach that would allow refugees to stand on their feet and be self-reliant.

According to the ombudsman, the state provides help but in this case there was an unpleasant discord emerging between Bulgarians and Ukrainian refugees and this should not be allowed. According to Kovacheva, the solution is having a balance of interests and a long-term policy. "It's not good for the people from Ukraine, too. We would provide them with a vacation by the sea, but how would this help them feel more integrated and secure for their future?"

Meanwhile, it was reported that Ukrainian forces regained about 20 percent of the territory they lost in the city of Severodonetsk during battles against the Russian army, BTA informed.
