Angel Rusev wins gold medal at the 2022 European Weightlifting Championships in Tirana

Twenty-year-old Bulgarian weightlifter Angel Rusev won a title at the 2022 European Weightlifting Championships in Tirana. Rusev finished third in the snatch event with 113 kilograms. However, he lifted 144 kilograms in the clean and jerk event and won the gold medal with a total of 257 kilograms. 

Josue Brachi (Spain) placed second with a total of 256 kilograms. Dmytro Voronovskyi (Ukraine) won the bronze medal with a total of 242 kilograms. Bulgarian Deniz Danev who made his debut at European weightlifting championships finished fourth with a total of 220 kilograms. One year ago, Angel Rusev won the European title in the 55 kilogram category.
