Constitutional Court to discuss closure of specialized prosecutor's office and courts

The Constitutional Court has allowed for consideration on the merits of the request of the Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev to declare the closure of the specialized court and specialized prosecutor's office unconstitutional. The magistrates gave a one-month deadline for presenting statements. The court is not bound by deadlines and the decision may take effect after July 28, when, by law, specialized justice must cease to exist.

The Supreme Judicial Council must discuss how to proceed with the reappointment of special magistrates and staff, the transfer of cases and the other consequences stemming from the closure of specialized courts and specialized prosecutors' office.
