Bulgaria stands to lose over EUR 1 bn. if it does not complete infrastructure projects

Younous Omarjee, chair of the European Parliament's Regional Development Committee paid a visit to problem sites in Bulgaria to check how the funds allocated over the 2014-2020 programming period are being spent. He called on Bulgaria to complete the infrastructure projects that have been started as soon as possible, adding that the projects that have been halted should be continued. Younous Omarjee stated further that Struma motorway is a priority for Bulgaria, but also for the European Commission.

In a comment on the matter, Bulgarian MEP Andrey Novakov stated that if Bulgaria does not complete the projects by 2024, Bulgaria stands to lose over EUR 1 billion.
