Bulgaria pays tribute to the self-sacrifice of the heroes of the April Uprising

Bulgaria pays tribute to the feat and self-sacrifice of the heroes of the April Uprising of 1876. The historic anniversary was marked with commemorative events in the towns of Koprivshtitsa and Klisura. Tonight, the commemorations are to culminate in the town of Panagyurishte. 

People from all parts of the country have been travelling today to Panagyurishte to show reverence for the feat of the heroes of the April Uprising. Bulgaria’s Vice President Iliana Yotova attended the celebrations in Klisura. A reenactment of the historical events took place in this Bulgarian town. National Assembly Speaker Nikola Minchev and Premier Kiril Petkov attended the commemorative events in the town of Koprivshtitsa. They paid tribute at the tomb of revolutionary Todor Kableshkov.
