The leader of "There is Such a People", Slavi Trifonov, whose party is part of the ruling coalition, called Prime Minister Kiril Petkov’s call on Bulgarians to donate money for weapons for Ukraine "the most monstrous nonsense I've ever heard".

"Money should be donated to save lives, not to buy weapons. This thing about the weapons is a job of the state, not of ordinary people," Slavi Trifonov said in his Facebook post, posted hours before the coalition council, which should discuss the issue of possible military assistance to Ukraine.
