On the festive Easter night, the head of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church Patriarch Neophyte announced the Resurrection of Christ at St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Sofia.

The temple and the square in front of it were filled with the solemn chants praising the Risen Saviour and the hundreds flickering flames of the candles of those present at the Easter service. It was headed by the Bulgarian Patriarch, who said: "Let us not be indifferent observers of the evil and injustice that surround us, but active co-workers with the Lord in the daily struggle for life - do-gooders, peacemakers, worthy of the name of Christ."

President Rumen Radev, the last tsar of the Kingdom of Bulgaria Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha with his wife Margarita, their daughter princess Kalina and her husband Kitin Muñoz were among the dignitaries at the ceremony.
