Head of headquarters for Ukrainian refugees resigns

The head of the government headquarters for refugees, Colonel Valeri Rachev, resigned on Wednesday night, bTV reported. The government has not commented on the news. Rachev also refrained from commenting, BGNES reported.

In the beginning of March, Prime Minister Kiril Petkov set up an Operational Headquarters, which coordinates the work of 6 inter-departmental groups at the level of deputy ministers. The headquarters is responsible for the evacuation of Ukrainian refugees and providing them with shelter. Valeri Rachev, a political adviser to the prime minister, was appointed head of the headquarters. Rachev is a former army officer, ambassador to Iraq and security expert.
