“The Supreme Judicial Council is to review, next week, some of the grounds, submitted by the Justice Ministry, for the termination of the term of office of Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev,” Minister of Justice Nadezhda Yordanova said, in an interview with public service TV BNT.
“For some members of the Supreme Judicial Council this will be a difficult decision because it was they themselves that elected the prosecutor general, ignoring all signs that he does not meet the requirements set down in the Constitution,” she said.
According to Minister Yordanova, garnering a parliamentary majority for amendments to the Constitution, connected with the judicial reform, is attainable. “However, if the amendments to the Constitution are not passed, if the Supreme Judicial Council remains the same, it will be a difficult situation,” she said further.
