On the occasion of the International Children's Book Day, the "March of the Books" was launched from the emblematic Slaveykov Square in front of the Sofia City Library. The initiative is part of the mission of the Bulgarian Book Association, in support of literacy, culture and education.

The campaign to promote children's reading continues throughout the month in various forms close to children's perceptions. The date of April 2 was chosen in recognition of the favourite children's author Hans Christian Andersen who was born on this day.
The day of books was also marked in many Bulgarian cities, where children took part in a "reading marathon" and celebrities read their favourite excerpts from children's books.
