Over 29 million euros from European projects were illegally used for payment of salaries in the National Company "Railway Infrastructure”, Minister of Transport Nikolay Sabev said. The revealed abuses will be handed over to both the Bulgarian Prosecutor’s Office and the European Public Prosecutor's Office.

A separate inspection by the Ministry of Transport has shown that there are a number of irregularities in the implementation of transport projects. "We have a lot of delays when it comes to deadlines” the minister said and added that the inspection encountered many obstacles, but promised that it would be completed. "We will hold everyone who has violated the interests of the state and society accountable," Nikolay Sabev also said.
