Bulgaria welcomes and supports the investigation launched by the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC). This is an important legal step in response to the Russian aggression against Ukraine, the Bulgarian Justice Ministry said.

The ministry is setting up a coordination mechanism to collect and send information and material to support the investigation.

Bulgaria's position was voiced at an online meeting convened by the UK  and attended by a large number of justice and foreign ministers from like-minded countries around the world. It included 41 countries who have submitted a referral of the situation in Ukraine to the International Criminal Court on 1 March 2022.
