The number of Ukrainian refugees entering Bulgaria is extremely high and efforts need to be mobilised not only at regional level. This is what Diana Dimova, representative of the civil organization "Mission "Wings", Stara Zagora, said in an interview for the Bulgarian National Television. In her words, the country is not prepared for a humanitarian crisis and things are only going to get worse as the number of refugees increases by the hour.
Nearly 42,000 Ukrainians are currently on the territory of Bulgaria, according to the Border Police. A total of about 90,000 Ukrainians have crossed into Bulgaria since February 24, but only 276 applications for protection have been submitted to Border Police officers.
In the last 24 hours alone, some 4,500 Ukrainians have entered the country, of which 2,500 people have passed through.
