Fruit and vegetable growers prepare a series of protests

Photo: archive

Fruit and vegetable producers are launching a series of protests against the support policy in agriculture. In their view, the current support policy is detrimental to the local production. Payments under the coupled support scheme are not only late, but are 25% lower as compared to 2021, while the cost of fruit and vegetables has increased with 50%, farmers contend.

In their words, the money is distributed unevenly-66%:34% in favor of animal breeders. Fruit and vegetable growers demand a meeting with Premier Kiril Petkov.

They are ready to block major roads, if their problems remain unaddressed. The first protest will take place today on Danube Bride.
