Bulgaria is to spend over half a billion euro on the purchase of wheat, sunflower and corn in order to replenish its reserves, Minister of Finance Assen Vassilev said after the cabinet meeting. He pointed out that there was no ban on the export of these agricultural products.

The government has also discussed the sharp rise of the price of sunflower oil, which cannot be explained by a lack of raw materials. "Prices of 2.6 euros per liter are speculation," Minister of Economy Korneliya Ninova said, adding that the production price was about a euro. According to her, producers were holding back quantities in anticipation of exporting at higher prices. The minister also said that the Commission for Protection of Competition would be signaled over the case.
