The Bulgarian Energy and Water Regulatory Commission has approved natural gas price for March of EUR 57 per megawatt-hour ,excluding access, transmission, excise and VAT. As reasons for the 3.5% hike, the commission points out the limitation of output from the gas storage facility near Chiren, as well as record high prices on European gas exchanges. Using gas from Chiren has been suspended by order of the Minister of Energy in order to accumulate reserves in case of a crisis with natural gas supplies.
