The Movement for Rights and Freedoms is filing a complaint against PM Kiril Petkov with the prosecutor’s office over the so-called golden passports, i.e. citizenship by investment. According to the party, in his capacity of caretaker minister of economy, the current Prime Minister Kiril Petkov violated the Bulgarian citizenship act, as in his time as economy minister no control ordinance has been issued for each of the investments.

MP Hamid Hamid called for an investigation into “whether, alongside the many Chinese citizens there are Russian oligarchs who have obtained right of residence or golden passports on these grounds.”
